Honestly, before i even read this, Ive gotten into the habit of referring to the entire lifestyle as Parkour Freerunning, taking the lifestyle and philosophy of Parkour, but tossing in stuff here and there just because it looks cool, or its fun to do, but may not be necessary.
As for the music scene, I think its going the same way it did in the 50s and 60s when rock & roll was brand new, and the elders said "Whats wrong with jazz?" The answer isnt that something is wrong with the past, just that the youth strive towards the future. I promote that viewpoint, but only when the past is learned, understood, and respected as "he who came before".

I think that being a positive person and treating people well should go without saying. Everyone should be treating the world and its occupants with respect.

It seems silly to speak negatively about a community, but it should be noted that the more philosophical and meditative aspects of parkour are seemingly not present in the freerunning movement. Being extreme and wanting viewership is childish and immature.

I greatly desire a parkour community where discipline resonates in the way people speak to and about one another, where high-mindedness and intelligence are sought after, where liberal and altruistic philosophy reign supreme, and a greater plane of existence is found.

freerunners are saved, tracers are enlightened.

it should be obvious that is not a statement of value, but certainly a statement of difference

also, I think all this techno and metal needs to stop. Why can't members of this scene be into decent music? what is wrong with a nice, rhythmic beat?

Before, i didn't have that much respect for the yamakasi, everytime i heard or saw them, in my mind, it kept screaming sell out. Now i live in asia so i can't say that i've met them, but their recent documentaries, it showed me that maybe they believe in something slightly different, but you have to admit that their level of training and dedication is still miles above my own. Great Post tyson!
