I slept in today. I didn’t have to get up at 4am to film fish. I didn’t have to almost die doing a Primal workout. I didn’t have to spend more than half a day in a plane. Today consisted of sleeping, wandering around Hong Kong, eating good food, and meeting the awesome people we are working with to put on this performance, this trip kicks ass! Seriously, we have around 12 days here in HK with about 3-4 of those actually being about work, and *almost* everything is covered by our wonderful hosts ![]()
I got some great photos today. Hong Kong surely is an amazing place, some buildings look to be a hundred years old and crumbling yet right next to them are these amazing new feats of engineering. It’s definitely greener and more open than most of Tokyo, but absolutely packed with apartment buildings.
We woke up this morning and basically picked a random direction - my preferred method of travel. Wandered through an open air market that was pretty funny, basically half clothes stands and half raw meat stands, it was lovely. We made our general direction downtown, just heading towards the newest and tallest buildings. On the way we found a great park and aviary, one of the best things about HK is how many hills with dense vegetation there are. The cities are in these tiny islands and it is extremely difficult to build on most of mountainous hills, so you end up with dense skyscrapers next to wonderful hilly forests.
The aviary was not only beautiful and a lot of fun, but I got some great practice with the camera testing it’s possibilities. I’m getting more and more into this photography stuff, but I think part of that is all the amazing places I’ve been able to go to recently
Seeing downtown was great, I absolutely fell in love with some of the building’s architecture.
Hong Kong has a great public transportation system. Lots of buses, trams, subways, taxis, pretty much everything and lots of it. These little boxy rail cars really cracked me up though, they run down the major street where we are staying and they are almost taller than they are wide!
Some more random pictures, Mormon temples have a way of following me around, and I think a punching bag is the best advertisement I’ve seen!
